# Recruitment and HR in Toronto

Toronto has the deepest professional talent pool in Canada, and the most competition for it. We help small and mid-size employers compete with the big names for the same people.

## The Toronto hiring market

- **Financial services and insurance**: Bank and insurer head offices around Bay Street set salary expectations for accounting, finance, risk and insurance roles across the region.
- **Technology**: Startups, scale-ups and large tech employers hire developers, data and product people year-round. Many of them offer remote or hybrid work.
- **Legal and professional services**: Law firms, accounting firms and consultancies of every size, from downtown towers to suburban offices.
- **Life sciences**: Hospitals, research institutes and the MaRS Discovery District create demand for regulatory, clinical and lab roles.

## Rules that matter for Toronto employers

- Ontario: from January 1, 2026, employers with 25 or more employees must include the expected pay or pay range in publicly advertised job postings, say whether the posting is for an existing vacancy, disclose AI use in screening, and not ask for Canadian work experience. ([source](https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0/job-postings))
- Ontario: most private-sector employers follow the Employment Standards Act, 2000, which sets minimum notice, overtime, vacation and leave rules. ([source](https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0))
- Federally regulated employers, such as banks, airlines, telecoms and interprovincial transport, follow the Canada Labour Code instead of provincial employment standards. ([source](https://www.canada.ca/en/services/jobs/workplace/federal-labour-standards.html))

## Hiring well in Toronto

Competing with large employers usually comes down to a clear pay range, a quick process and a real answer on hybrid work. We help you set all three before the search starts.
